On the GO since day one.

A brief look back at the history of National and Alamo:
1947: National Car Rental is founded by a group of 24 independent car rental operators with 800 vehicles and 60 locations.
1954:National becomes the first car rental brand to offer one-way rentals.
1974: Alamo Rent A Car is formed in Florida with four locations.
1982: Alamo opens a location in the first state-of-the-art rental plaza in Tampa, serving hundreds of customers per hour. Later this year, Alamo also opens a location as part of the world’s largest rental facility in Orlando.
1987: National introduces the industry's first comprehensive frequent-renter program, “Emerald Club,” along with the “Paperless Express Rental Agreement,” which made car rental faster by using the information stored in a computer to process the whole transaction in seconds. Innovations such as the “Emerald Aisle,” where members select their own cars and are on their way without filling out any paperwork, allowed members to completely bypass the rental counter.
1994: National enters into a partnership with the Professional Golf Association, becoming the “Official Car Rental Company of the PGA Tour and Champions Tour.”
1995: Alamo.com becomes the first real-time car rental booking tool on the Internet.
2002: Alamo Rent A Car becomes the official car rental company of Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
2005: Online check-in is launched on Alamo.com.
2006: Alamo introduces the rental kiosk to combat wait issues occurring during peak rental periods.
2006: The self-service kiosk rental process is introduced.
2007: Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental join Enterprise Rent-A-Car, making us the most comprehensive transportation provider in the industry.
2009: Enterprise Holdings is created as the name behind Alamo Rent A Car, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and National Car Rental.
